Startmate-backed systems that analyse direct-message traffic across Instagram, Snapchat, Discord and Roblox demonstrate the architecture the Victorian pilot seeks to assess. By filtering for cyberbullying indicators—repeated insults, exclusion campaigns, sexually explicit coercion—without storing or surfacing benign conversation, the technology identifies children experiencing or perpetrating harassment and routes alerts to school wellbeing coordinators for early intervention. The trial reflects growing recognition that reactive complaint mechanisms cannot match the speed or secrecy of platform-based abuse.
