Project Compass, an ongoing international operation launched in 2025 involving investigators from the U.S., UK, and nine EU member states (Belgium, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden), conducted coordinated Referral Action Days in June and July 2026 targeting content used to recruit members and coerce children. The flagged material included violent videos and images of self-harm, suicide, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), animal cruelty, and violent attacks, often livestreamed on social media while online bystanders encouraged the acts; Europol noted that status within The Com is determined by the extremity and harm of the content a user can produce or extort.
